Mattress Removal in Meridian

A mattress is awkward in a way most furniture isn't. It's bulky, floppy, and almost impossible for one person to carry down a hallway or stairs without bending it in half trying. In Meridian, you've got more than one way to get rid of one, and which one makes sense depends on how soon you need it gone and what else is leaving the house with it.

Boise Furniture Removal picks up mattresses and box springs around Meridian neighborhoods like Old Town, Paramount, Bridgetower, and Lochsa Falls, along with whatever else is coming out of the room with it.

Scheduled City Pickup or a Hauler?

Meridian runs its curbside and bulky-item service through a city contract with Republic Services, and single-family homes get a set number of free bulky pickups every calendar year. A mattress is exactly the kind of item that program is built for. The catch is you have to schedule it online or by phone ahead of time, and it only comes on the day it's booked for.

If you're clearing a bedroom before new furniture shows up, or a tenant just moved out and the flooring crew is on the calendar, waiting on an open pickup slot can eat more time than you've got. A hauler can usually get there sooner, and there's no need to separate the mattress out from the rest of what's leaving the house.

Worth knowing either way: the bulky program won't take hot tubs, bathtubs, or pianos. If more than a mattress is heading out the door, it's worth checking what the program actually covers before counting on one pickup to clear it all.

Where It Goes From Here

Once a mattress leaves a Meridian property, it's headed into Ada County's disposal system, either straight to the Ada County Landfill at Hidden Hollow up in the Boise foothills off Seamans Gulch Rd, or through the closer Meridian Transfer Station on W Franklin Rd, which forwards material on from there.

Both take mattresses as part of regular trash, along with things like tires and Freon-containing appliances, though those carry their own added fee on top. What they won't take is waste from outside Ada County, anything hazardous, or treated and painted wood mixed in with material meant for diversion.

That's part of why a load gets sorted before it ever reaches a counter. A single mattress is simple. A mattress riding along with a dresser, an old water heater, or a bag of insulation needs those pieces kept apart so the drop-off goes faster and nothing gets hit with a fee it didn't need to.

What Changes the Job

A few things tend to move a mattress pickup up or down in Meridian:

• How it comes out of the house — a ground-floor bedroom with a clear path to the driveway is a different job than a mattress wedged up a narrow staircase in one of the older homes near Old Town.
• How many pieces are leaving — a mattress and box spring going together take up more room than a mattress alone.
• Access to the property — gated sections like Spurwing or Tuscany, or a long driveway tucked behind an HOA common area, can add a few extra minutes just getting a truck to the door.
• What else is going with it — bundling a mattress in with other furniture or a cleanout usually works out better than a separate trip for just the one item.
• Time of year — spring cleanout season, when a lot of Meridian households are tackling garages and yards alongside the city's Trash or Treasure season, tends to run busier than the rest of the year.

However you get it out the door, a mattress doesn't need to sit on the curb while you wait on a scheduling window. Boise Furniture Removal offers free estimates for mattress pickups anywhere in Meridian.
